Are you suffering for ‘temporal exhaustion’ with unrealistic targets, excessive workloads and the impact of the New Academic Year?   Elise Boulding argues this temporal exhaustion comes about “If one is mentally out of breath all the time from dealing with the present, there is no energy left for imaging the future”.  

We think it’s time for us all to pause and reclaim the present.  Our sense of community has been continuously eroded and we need to reconnect and begin building a community.  So we are kicking off our community building initiative by putting on a series of outdoor ‘Lunchtime Socials’ for anyone to join.  

You are entitled to your lunch break so why not join us?  It’s just a chance to have a chat, have some lunch and tell us how your day is going. Maybe even share some lunch! It’s a relaxed affair and a chance for us to reconnect as human beings.  Just bring your lunch and a friend or three!

The ‘Lunchtime Socials’ will take place on the following days: 

• Thursday 13th February 12:00 to 2:00pm: Outside Library by the Green Seated Area 
• Wednesday 19th February 12:00 to 2:00pm (UCU Bake Off and Bake Sale): In Front of George Elliot Building
• And join us for a Branch Meeting after the Social on Wednesday 19th February 2:00pm to 4:00pm: Charles Ward CW215

The UCU Bake Off and Bake Sale will take place during the Wednesday 19^th February Social.  The Bake Off is open to anyone so if you have a special cake, cupcake, biscuit recipe that you haven’t made in a while why not dust it off and give it a go! All proceeds from the Bake Sale will go to the Coventry Food Bank!
